Graduate Software Engineer - ORACLE

Graduate Software Engineer (Full-time) - based in Dublin

ROLE:

The successful candidate will join the Patch System Test (PST) team in Dublin.

In this role, they will have the opportunity to learn more about:

  • Oracle Solaris System Administration on a wide range of SPARC and x86 hardware, including high-end systems, with in-depth, hands-on experience with the Solaris Operating System and exposure to Solaris' latest and greatest features such as IPS, AutoInstaller, Zones & ZFS.
  • Structured problem analysis methodologies.
  • Scripting languages like ksh, bash, Perl.
  • Process Design and Test & Release Engineering Best Practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Managing our weekly test cycle, which will include machine setup (i.e. installation), test execution, failure analysis and report generation.
  • System Administration and maintenance of our large lab (~300 servers).
  • Analysing potential patch/package issues and communicating with patch/package creators to ensure correct and speedy resolution.
  • Design and implementation of further improvements to our automated tools, test suites, and processes, to help continuously improve our effectiveness and efficiency at catching patch/package issues quickly and effectively prior to their release.

In addition to the day-to day activities outlined above team members are encouraged to engage in longer-term project work, working either individually or as part of a team.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants should have a primary degree in Computing or a related discipline.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX Operating Environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent initiative/self-starter.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good history of academic achievement.
  • Interest in computer hardware.
  • Must have good attention to detail.
  • Must be a flexible team player.
